Foothills Playhouse welcomes everyone to audition for our plays. No experience is necessary, just a desire to be part of a fun cast with a nice organization. It is always a good idea to bring a non-returnable photo to help the director remember who you are. The best ones are snapshots that actually look like you rather than a slick professional headshot that makes you look really pretty but isn’t really what you look like.
Frequently Asked Questions About Auditioning:
Should I have a monologue prepared to audition with? Our auditions are usually done through cold reading. No monologue is necessary.
My child is very interested in acting and in theatre. What can I do to get her ready for auditions? Since most of our auditions are done with cold reading, have your child practice reading out loud with a clear and expressive reading voice. The more one practices the better one becomes.
How many days a week will I be expected to rehearse? The initial weeks of rehearsal will be kept to three or four days a week. Not all actors are required at all rehearsals at first. As we near opening night the rehearsals will be longer and more frequent. We try very hard to keep the rehearsals from interfering with school and family time, but keep in mind that being in a play is a serious time commitment, and we owe our patrons the very best product in entertainment we can produce, which requires a lot of time and effort on the part of our actors and volunteers.
Audition Application Forms:
Each person who auditions for a part in each play must complete and Audition Application. There are forms for both Adults (18 and over) and Youth. Please download and complete the appropriate Form linked below.
